Getting to Know You – Part 1
July 12, 2008 at 12:01 am | Posted in Bryan, Getting to Know You | 3 CommentsThe “Getting to Know You” series will be a random posting of facts about our heroes – The Sarah and Bryan – so their extended friends and family can learn more about the each other’s other half.
They will not always be written in the third person.
Did you know that famed author Lee Child named a character after Bryan in his book, BAD LUCK AND TROUBLE? It’s true! (Although it is “Dave O’Donnell” and not “Bryan O’Donnell.”)
Child was finishing up character names for the book when he received an e-mail from Bryan regarding business matters. He knew he wanted an Irish name for one of Jack Reacher’s military compatriots and in a fortuitous set of circumstances, Bryan’s message (with his last name in the header) arrived in Lee’s Inbox. And further, after they met at a London book party, Lee also developed “David O’Donnell,” as a “tall, blond, bold man who was as comfortable doing paperwork as he was carrying brass knuckles in one pocket and a switchblade in another.”
Bryan can speak for the paperwork and switchblade, but finds brass knuckles a tad obtrusive to lug around.

Brass knuckles just aren’t conveniently sized enough.

Cary Grant would say forget the brass knuckles and just use a roll of dimes.
